YogaRhythmics

Welcome to our monthly 1st Fridays YogaRhythmics®. A synergy of yoga, creative and energetic movement, breathwork, music and play into a dynamic experience of self-expression. Through a structured sequence of natural movement patterns, the chakras open, energize, and integrate. The yogic attitudes of love, acceptance, compassion, contentment, integrity and openness are at the heart of the YogaRhythmics® experience.

In a loving, non-judgmental, safe space everyone is honored and spiritual principles and practices come alive. There is no right or wrong way of movement. In this practice, you are invited to move in ways that feel good to you and honor your body.

YogaRhythmics® is for everyone and every body. You don’t need to know a thing about yoga or dance to experience the joy and benefits of moving your body through the “dancing path of yoga.” All you need is a willingness to move, and BE MOVED.

What to expect: ⠀
A little bit of yoga
A whole lotta dance
Free form, creative movement on your own and with others
Lots of fun and laughter
Heavy dose of the healing, vibrational quality of music – a playlist full of dynamic, multi-cultural music
Being guided by an instructor and your own free, spontaneous spirit
Cultivating breath awareness while strengthening your body, mind, and spirit
Full (and well deserved) savasana/relaxation at the end of the practice

How you’ll feel:
Sweaty
Energized
Refreshed/Renewed/Revitalized
Open to your creative powers
Connected – to yourself and others
Less judgmental of yourself and others
Clear-minded
More flexible in body/mind

A portion of this workshop’s proceeds will go to a charity every month.

Your Guide:

Nicole Zellie has been a mover and a dancer ever since she was born. You could always count on her to be on the dancefloor in any club, party, or event. She believes we are all natural born dancers; we just might have forgotten our way as we started ‘adulting’ too much.

She began her yogic journey in 2000 when she started practicing yoga in several studios in New Jersey.  There isn’t a style of yoga she hasn’t practiced, but she always felt drawn to the styles that are more creative and gave her the same sense of freedom she experienced on the dance floor.

During her Yoga Teacher Training in 2003 she discovered a practice that combined yoga with dance called YogaRhythmics®.  The Universe and stars aligned as the founder, Connie Miller happened to be offering one of her last YT trainings so Nicole quickly signed up.  She hasn’t stopped teaching her ‘passion practice’ since.

She believes that yoga is more than a series of movements, it's a way of life. As we practice humility, grace, breath, playfulness, and compassion on the mat, those qualities nestle their way into our lives off the mat. Nicole’s mission is to help people connect with their inner child and playful nature through movement and self-discovery. In her classes you will be invited to embrace joy, be present together, bridge worlds, and express yourself in your own way.

When she's not practicing or teaching yoga, you can find her and her husband Mike on the soccer field cheering on their son Jack, walking her dog Cookie in Schenley Park, curled up with a book written by Glennon Doyle, Brene Brown, or Pema Chodron or listening to one of their insightful podcasts.
